A return to normality?

This week's predictions is a bit of a return to normality with focus on the domestic premier leagues for football and both rugby codes, albeit with some world cup limited overs cricket thrown in for good measure.

February was a poor month on the prediction front with losses most weeks and the worst of the lot coming last week with only three correct forecasts led by England defeating France in the Six Nations rugby and a couple from the Barclays Premier League football.  This resulted in a loss of £5 on the week and reduces overall profits down to £28 as we approach the second anniversary of the start of this blog!

The blurb this week will be short and sweet due to time constraints.  In the football I have gone for recent form with predictions that Arsenal will beat Sunderland and West Ham to defeat Stoke and then based on league positions, as I expect Manchester United to bounce back from their defeat to Chelsea by winning against Liverpool and Spurs to get back to winning ways at Wolves.

In the Rugby Union my predictions are Gloucester to defeat Bath in the West Country derby and Harlequins to win at Newcastle.  For Rugby League the forecast (or some may call it guess work) is for Harlequins 13 man side to defeat the Huddersfield Giants and Wigan to win at Salford.

Finally, the cricket world cup has provided plenty of excitement, drama and unexpected results, particularly for England fans and therefore making any prediction difficult but I'm staying patriotic by suggesting England will beat South Africa and the previous day Sri Lanka will defeat the Australians.

Here's looking forward to a successful start for the March predictions!

In summary the predictions are:

Barclays Premier League

Arsenal to beat Sunderland at 5/11
West Ham to defeat Stoke at 13/10
Manchester United to triumph over Liverpool at 48/29
Spurs to win at Wolves at 6/4

Aviva Premiership Rugby

Gloucester to beat Bath at 4/6
Harlequins to win at Newcastle at 6/5

Rugby League Superleague

Harlequins to beat the Giants at 23/10
Wigan to win at Salford at 3/14

Cricket World Cup

Sri Lanka to beat Australia at 11/12
England to defeat South Africa at 17/10
