Last GP of the season and more

Apologies for no predictions last week but have some for this week. Two weeks ago I ended up £2 down on the week as only got three correct predictions - for those of you interested they were Wigan drawing with Manchester City and Stoke beating West Ham in the Premier League football as well as Stade Francais beating Bath in the Heineken Cup rugby.

This means my cumulative loss is now £13 but I hope to claw some of that back this week with my predictions. Five sports come under the reckoning this weekend with Premier League Football, Formula 1 Motor Racing, Rugby Union, Rugby League and World Matchplay Golf.

In the Barclays Premier League my predictions are for Chelsea to continue in pole position by beating Bolton, Burnley to continue their good home form and pile the pressure on Hull manager Phil Brown by winning, and then I'm going for two draws with Fulham holding Liverpool and Sunderland to draw with West Ham.

As for Rugby Union my two predictions are Leicester to win at home versus Northampton and Saracens to keep their winning start to the season at Bath. In Rugby League I am going with an Australia win over England in the four nations.

The golf world matchplay has been going on in Spain for the last few days and I'm going for Cabrera to win.

Finally, I started this blog one the eve of this 2009 F1 season and this most interesting of seasons draws to a close at the new circuit in Abu Dhabi this weekend with the first ever day / night race. The Championships have been sorted out but not most of the seats for the drivers next year and so this is the last chance to impress. However, my two predictions are with drivers who have impressed recently and that is the former World Champion Lewis Hamilton who I am predicting to win and his successor as the number 1 Jenson Button to finish on the podium. I have been fairly poor at predicting the results of these two drivers this season and hope that will change for the last race.

In summary the predictions are:

Premier League Football

Chelsea to win at Bolton at 5/11
Burnley to beat Hull at 18/19
Fulham to draw with Liverpool at 12/5
Sunderland and West Ham to draw at 5/2

Rugby League

Australia to beat England at 1/6

Rugby Union

Leicester to beat Northampton at 4/9
Saracens to beat Bath at 4/3

World Matchplay Golf

Cabrera to win at 15/8

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Hamilton to win at 11/8
Button to podium at 20/13

  1. great prediction for the Sunderland - West Ham game. It was a 2-2 draw and a great game too. Are you up or down after your last weekend predictions?
